Amy Winehouse Wins Coveted Award
London, UK - 12 December 2007: Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse scooped a coveted award this week. The controversial star, nominated for six Grammys, was voted the 'UK Trainwreck of the Year' by the readers of Hecklerspray - one of the biggest entertainment blogs in the country.
Winehouse beat off stiff competition from Heather Mills, Pete Doherty and Jade Goody to the gong ¬- awarded to 'the celebrity that has messed things up for themselves in the most spectacular way'.
She received the lion's share of the near-2,000 votes cast after a year that has seen her struggle with a string of drug and alcohol-related problems. Interestingly, nine of the 10 named by the readers were women.
The wild star faced stiff competition this year, with Heather Mills bringing up the rear in second spot following her rant on GMTV, and drug-addled musician Pete Doherty in third.
